I have been dreaming of this :: Mist, Lots of gulls, a lighthouse, an owl on a wedding signpost and a SUPER brave couple.
I’ve met Anasja and her wonderful family when they came down from Joburg and the Freestate for a family shoot. Anasja’s plan was to give her parents a Photo book on the morning of the wedding as a surprise. What a precious gift it was. We had tons of laughter and I immediately knew I’m going to love being part of their celebration.
While I was heading up the West Coast (my favourite part of SA), it was raining buckets full and also crazy misty. While I shared my shooting in mist on a beach with a lighthouse fantasy with Kay, I felt a twinge of nervous excitement.
The mist cleared up just before we arrived at the girls. Bummer I thought. It was all blue skies and the sun even tried to came through. Gerhard’s dad married them on the rocks at Seatrader in Brittania Bay. I had to priviledge to be at 3 weddings in a row where the dad’s married the couple, which is so incredibly special.
Halfway through the bridal party shoot, the mist made an appearance again. I was in my element. I have to add :: it got cold, like in a sharp cold. Anasja & Gerhard you were crazy brave. We were running around like crazy peeps on a deserted, freezing beach. We even had a tannie telling me off for wanting to take newly weds out in this weather. We were dealing with running mascara, hair blowing all over the place, even though that didn’t really bother me too much as I know that beauty and imperfection goes so well together.
As we were heading back we saw an owl on the wedding signpost (whick Kay took. I was driving 
I am 100% sure that must be a real good sign of wisdom in your future together, Anasja & Gerhard.
