Louise-Mari and Louw tied the knot in her front garden where she grew up on their Malherbe family farm just outside of Robertson. Afterwards a tractor transported all the guests to a hill that overlooked the farm with a gorgeous view. One of their friends treated the spectators with an airshow, which was definitely a highlight. The couple built and laid their own cement dance floor, painted with grey and white stripes that tied in so perfectly with the decor. I loved this line out of Louise-Mari’s speech “Julle sal dans vanaand!” – which brings me to the most hilarious speech I have ever heard. Louise-Mari had everyone in stitches and one that I will probably never forget. That saying “dynamite comes in small packages” rings especially true here. A small lady with a BIG personality. Louw is a gentle soul, a farmer, salt of the earth kinda guy and couldn’t take his eyes of his bride.

Marli Basson (who I love working with) took care of her cousin’s make-up and it was so touching to witness both Marli and Louise-Mari eyes well up with tears when she did the final magic touches. Family & friends came together and contributed with so many aspects that resulted in a true celebration of everyone special and dear to them.

I’ve been so lucky to shoot at Beloftebos three times this wedding season. And every time it is a treat. Beloftebos is very close to the quaint little coastal town, Stanford set on the banks of the Paardenberg river. Chloe & Gus said their vows and under the dense old aged Oak trees which is incredibly beautiful. Gus is a gentle giant who you can’t help but have soft spot for, shedding a few tears as he saw Chloe walk down the aisle. Chloe is a gentle soul with the loveliest dimples.

There are too many aspects to this celebration to list which I loved, but here are a few: the laughter, tears, Gus’s brother’s beautiful voice at the first dance, Chloe’s gorgeous dress, the awesome Cheesecake that Chloe’s aunt made. I also loved how Chloe & Gus planted a baby tree during the ceremony to symbolize new growth.

Thank you Chloe & Gus, it was most awesome to photograph you and to document your celebration. Nurture your love and and I wish you endless happiness and growth in your marriage.

Roland & Nura’s  love journey sounds like something out of a movie. It touched me from the moment Roland and I started talking about their story. It all started with this e-mail from a mutual friend ::

Danja & Robert tied  the knot at the magnificent Grand Dedale just outside of Wellington on a warm Summer’s day. Jaco from Just Jack Weddings did what he does best – perfected every last detail with the biggest smile ever. No nervous brides (or grooms for that matter) when he’s around. Loved working with this brilliant team.

Danja & Robert are the cutest couple and I couldn’t help taking loads of photographs – they made it just too easy.

Special thanks to bridesmaid and photographer Veronique holding the reflector for a few photographs as my assistant unfortunately suffered from food poisoning.

I loved everything about Carla & Tonie’s wedding, Oh yes we did. Besides the fact that they are incredibly warm, utterly in love and drop dead gorgeous, it took place in the middle of nowhere on a farm. And you all know what a sucker I am for farm weddings. Wedding on a farm? Oh yes, sign me up already. This one was at De Oudekraal, a new wedding venue 20km out of Caledon. The best.

Throw in hundreds on Eucalyptus trees, Canola “stoppels”, a beautiful sky, a reception set inbetween trees, the band, Bottomless Coffee (who I love!), the most awesome Bridal party and we have a winner!

It was windy though and Carla was in a state of mild panic the previous day over the weather. But we are always up for a challenge. We worked the wind and the beautiful overcast sky to our advantage. No matter how much we tried, we just couldn’t keep Tonie’s tie to stay straight or get Carla’s hair to tame. But I loved it, I think that suited their playful nature so well and the carefree surrounding landscape we had the honor in photographing.

We also took loads of Bridal party photographs, as I knew how much they meant to the couple. We had loads of extra time set aside.These guys were crazy, we had so much fun and they loved the camera, even the boys

Carla & Tonie, you know how thankful I am. Thank you again so much for all your plattelandse hospitality, warmth and treating us as your guests – I will always remember your day and how much fun we had.

Charlotte and Jurgen was an absolute joy to photograph and to get to know. During our Engagement session we had so much fun running around the Cape Town streets. See there E-session here.

I love the way I could tell straight away that their love is based on a deep friendship and faith. I loved so much about this wedding, the way that Jurgen couldn’t take his eyes off Charlotte the entire day, the most photogenic Tanglewood where Charlotte got ready, the beauty of Kleinevalleij, the tears, the joy and even the rain just before Charlotte walk down the aisle. Perfect.

Charlotte and Jurgen, I loved every minute of documenting your day. You guys are amazing and I wish you blessings beyond measure.

Janna & Nathan’s love for each other is so so beautiful to witness and especially to document. They have something incredibly special and sacred that they share. I could tell within the first 5 minutes of our first meeting and I am sure you will be able to second that from the images posted here. Their wedding day was just as special as the love they share, from the heartfelt ceremony to the romantic setting surrounded by rose bushes for the outdoor reception.

Janna & Nathan, thank you for being part of something so special. Treasure your gifts and love. Wishing you many years of laughter and blessings.

I truly loved all the coral splashes, even Janine’s lipstick colour was a gorgeous shade of coral. Loved how Janine wasn’t late (!!) for the ceremony, even though everyone expected her to be. Go Janine! The sweet paige boy carrying the sign was a perfect ice-breaker and I couldn’t help but smile.

Me and Carolyn studied together and it was so lovely to catch up with her after all these years, to see her so happy and to have the honor of documenting their day. Izandi from I do did such an amazing job with the coordination for Carolyn & James as they live in the UK. That takes me to the story how these two lovelies met. Although Carolyn & James both live in the UK, Carolyn met James at a New Years party whilst they were on vacation here. I just love coinkidienkies like this. It’s no secret that they were made for each other.

If you want a relaxed, beautiful Cape Town wedding, Izandi is your girl. I hope Carolyn & James don’t mind me sharing this heartfelt letter that made all of us smile for weeks and truly made us realize why we do what we do.

“I want to thank you so much for planning the most wonderful wedding I could ever have imagined!  It has been an absolute pleasure working with you for the last 9 months and from the moment I met you and all the service providers in Cape Town, I just knew there was nothing to stress or worry about.

I am so pleased we chose to have our wedding outdoors in South Africa – we will always remember celebrating in the beautiful surroundings, under the African sky and ending the evening dancing in the rain with everyone’s shoes off sliding all over the dance floor! A special mention to all the AWESOME service providers – they really do contribute hugely to how you feel on the day and I hope to thank them personally too.  Alicia is so amazing and talented…Both Alicia and Charlene have such calming personalities and were wonderful to be around moments before the ceremony.  They just know exactly how to calm those nerves. It was so surreal to watch from the porch the whole day come together with everyone doing their thing so professionally.  So many guest commented on John’s service and he really delivered a heartfelt and personal ceremony and I managed to take in every word J.  Werner…you were right, he is the dude, and seriously chilled!  As for Nico – oh my goodness he is a magician.  The décor was absolutely stunning and perfect in every way.  I LOVED the flowers and he somehow managed to incorporate all my favourites flowers in the bouquets and table décor.  One of my friends said that she could tell the décor/colours and chandeliers reflected my personality and that really is credit to you and Nico for getting the personal touches absolutely spot on!  The photo’s that were taken by some of our guests of the décor looked stunning, so I really can’t wait to see Charlene’s they are going to be so pretty!”
