FAQs

Weddings

We want to book you, what’s the next step?

I consider it a great honour to be your photographer and to play a part in your lasting memories that will outlive us all.

To secure my services on your wedding date, a non refundable booking fee of 50% is required at time of booking. Please be aware that during peak season, several couples could be interested in the same wedding date. Your booking will be confirmed with both the signed contract & booking fee on a first come, first serve basis. Payment plans are available on request.

Should we opt for an engagement shoot?

I always recommend an Engagement shoot with every wedding I book. It will give you a feel for how I work and in turn gives me the opportunity to get to know you better. Time on your wedding day is limited – I believe in capturing every special moment in the best way possible. Most understand my directions and laugh at my silly jokes. So let’s call it a fun packed session by the beach (my favourite location), in a forest or just a spot that holds some significant meaning to you.

When do we get to see our photos after our wedding?

Complete packages to be collected or send with courier 6-8 weeks after your wedding. Photo Books will be send to print as soon as you approve the layout and will take roughly 25 days to get printed and handbound.

Packages does not include postage and courier fees.

What if it rains?

We can’t change what Mother Nature is going to challenge us with, but rest assured, I love challenges and can totally roll with rain if you’re prepared to do the same. I have photographed weddings in crazy storms and can make for dramatic, unusual images. Three umbrellas live in my car on a permanent basis for the unpredictable times. Mother Nature might just have a rainbow up her sleeve!

When you refer to creative photo session, what do you mean?

On your wedding day, my aim is to capture beautiful moments that unfolds naturally, meaning it is not staged. Those images that will blow you away when you see them for the first time and think “when did Charlene take these?” My approach is completely unobtrusive. However during our Creative photo session with you I will give you some direction, make you feel completely at ease. Because let’s get real – we aren’t professional models and the thought of being photographed can be intimidating.

We have no idea how to put a timeline together on the day. Any suggestions?

As far as the timing on the day goes, I want to be involved in this process. I am here to help along the way,  sit down with you and work out a timeline that will not only suit your needs as a couple for a stress free day, but also consider the best light and time of day for our creative photo session.

Do you offer a Photo Album?

Let’s be honest. Since we are now living in a purely digital age, I believe that the desire for a tangible product and adding value is now stronger than ever. The Fine Art Album I design and offer my clients is my absolute pride and joy. I carefully selected a company that prints all the pages on exclusive, imported German Fine Art paper, which then gets send to a bookbinding company. I would love for each of my clients to have this beautiful keepsake that they will cherish for years.

How long have you been shooting?

I have been a photographer for 17 years, ten of which were spent travelling the world with a camera on-hand creating and photographing people on their happiest – on holiday. Back then this also included shooting weddings, especially elopements in far away places. I have run my business based in Cape Town since 2009 and photographed hundreds of weddings and portraits in Cape Town, the rest of South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

I still love to travel and no place is too far!

Families & Portraits

What if we want digital images too?

Nothing compares to holding a beautiful print in your hands, ready to showcase your legacy. But let’s be honest – we all want to have a beautiful profile photo so with every print purchased a full resolution digital, as well as a reduced file sized suitable for social media will be supplied.

What do you charge?

My session fee is R800 and includes my time, expertise as well as travel costs up to 50km. This also includes preparation for a viewing session which will take place in your home or convenient meeting spot.

I usually have a viewing/ordering session within 2 weeks of shoot where I do a slideshow and have examples of printed images. All ordered images will be printed on Fine Art Paper with a mount included.

The images I make will be beautiful, high quality and fully retouched. Prints start at R450.

There are no obligation for purchase and what you spend is entirely up to you.

How long does a portrait session take?

It generally takes an hour and a half. Because our time together is brief, I strive to bring out the best from your kids and your time with me will be as painless and fun as possible resulting in cherished images. Please do not stress before the time! Stressed out parents translate to stressed kiddos.

Where can we schedule a family session with you?

I recommend a location that holds special meaning for you as a family. Whether it’s in the city, the countryside, the beach or even in your own backyard, it will give you the chance to reconnect and document a special time in your lives. Be yourself and have fun!

What time is best for a family shoot?

Early morning or early evening is the best time to ensure the best, flattering light. In summer, Portrait sessions can often start as late as 6:30pm, an hour and a half before sunset.
